Our Philosophy

Modern methods. Old-school standards.

RIP values work ethic, commitment, trust, and respect.

Raw Iron Performance was founded in 2015 by Cody Hawkins. His lifelong love for sport and competition inspired him to learn the why’s of sport — which has allowed him to help the next generation of athletes successfully translate their game into real-life success.

The belief is that through high-quality training and the right environment, athletes will not only dominate in their chosen sport but also develop quality character traits and a better understanding of themselves.

Once an athlete has become passionate about improving in all aspects of life, we have fulfilled our mission. Raw Iron Performance uses a training system that involves new school training methods coupled with an old school environment, making for an undeniable experience.

It’s a normal day when the sound of chains dragging, hip hop blasting, and sledge hammers coming down on a tire, drown out the sound of you breathing, after a set of heavy sleds.

Lacrosse Development + Strength & Conditioning

Before founding Raw Iron Performance in 2015, Cody invested 22 years in sport, competing in lacrosse, football, basketball, track, and strongman. He made his way into the pro ranks of lacrosse, playing in 2014 for the hometown Calgary Roughnecks.

Now he gives back to the sports that gave so much to him. Through strength and conditioning, Cody builds an environment for athletes to thrive in — and with many young athletes working towards post-secondary education, he offers training that makes an athlete undeniably bigger, faster, and stronger.

Cody is heavily involved in the lacrosse community: dryland coach for the Jr B Calgary Shamrocks in 2016, then defensive coordinator for three years with the Jr A Calgary Mountaineers. Today he is head coach of the Mountaineers, working towards Alberta’s first Jr A national championship, the Minto Cup.
